Mark Pesce: The New Industrial Revolution

“An inexpensive 3D printer may be a wonder of technology, but putting it to work still requires a detailed understanding of CAD. Why? For fifty years, children have been 3D printing their own designs inexpensively at home, using LEGO. We must now refine our design tools, until they become as clear as toys. The new industrial revolution will conclude when it resembles a child playing with coloured blocks.”

Can’t but help think Mark should have said ‘Minecraft’, not 'LEGO’. There are already a collection of tools emerging that let you do this, like Printcraft, Mindcraft.print and Mineways.
